SAVE OUR FIELDS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
In recent days several of our great ballparks have come under fire for being supposedly out-of-date. cities wish to build brand new ballparks with corporate names. But if you ask me, the great ballparks of this country should be treated as National Monuments. They are part of our history and they can never be "out-of-date" because REAL baseball can be played anywhere. Just ask the kids who play on sandlots and in empty fields. I personally would rather watch a game in a park that I grew up with than some fancy new place with a high tech jumbotron. As baseball fans we should stand up and protect the beloved homes of our teams. As a Pirate fan and someone who lives in Western Pennsylvania, I've already seen my team's home condemned to be ground into fill to make way for the new PNC Park, Just as my Father watched the place he grew up watching the Bucs, Forbes Field, torn down to make way for Three Rivers. I don't want to see this happen to anyone else's favorite field. Now Fenway Park is under the gun...What's next Wrigley? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
